History: Zar was once owned by a cruel man who used cruel tactics to train his horses to race. He was born into this farm, and was forced away from his momma early on. His training began around 4 months with a saddle. While the man was cruel, he never stunted his horses, so training was usually less harsh at younger ages. He was started on the track as a two year old when he entered his first maiden. By then he had lost his spark and started loosing all the races he was entered in, and earned the nickname "placer" because he "helped" all the other horses place higher. As he kept loosing, he kept getting even more down and getting slower. Not long after, they entered him in a claiming race. Nobody placed any bids for him. After the races were all over, a man walked up and offered the owner $100 for him and the owner happily signed him away.
The new owner brought him to his stable, and fattened the boy up, and started his training all over. He would have his jockeys take him out to the track, and test his speed. He loved to run, but his confidence just needed to be built back up. Not long after, he started practicing with others, always winning by a head as the other jockeys held back. They slowly eased him into actually trying to win. Soon he caught on and put his heart into it.
Six months later he was entered in another maiden, and he actually placed fourth and his new owners were very proud and rewarded him. Thats when his career started taking off. He slowly moved his way into first place as he learned strategies that would help him win.
In one race, he decided not to listen to his jockey, and hung to the outside back of the crowd, staying in twelth place until they rounded to the homestretch. Then he lowered his neck, did a little hop as he jumped into over drive, and went around everybody, beating the leader by three lengths. His new owner decided that this may be the best way to race him, to let him choose where to go, like the great Secretariat. After that, it became their strategy. Even as others caught on, nobody could catch up to him.
One day, the stable went bankrupt and they had to sell all of their horses. It broke everybodies hearts to see Zar go, as they all fell in love with his spunky self. But thats when TLEC bought him, and now he's on his way to continuing his racing career. He is a calm stallion when in a pasture or stabled. But when that lead or saddle comes, he's ready to work his heart out. He does his best during training, and throws you that third gear when he's rounding that last turn towards the wire. He is loyal and very dependable, especially to those who treat him well.
